A beautiful sunset with the waves rolling in on the Oregon Coast. I used a neutral density filter and long exposure with a tripod to create the softness of the water. I like the dark reflections of the monoliths on the shoreline and how the shadow of the seagull mimics the shape of the one in the distance. Luckily the seagull cooperated and stayed in place. It all came together so magically.
A Perfect Place to Perch
Outside a restaurant in Seattle, these seagulls are eagerly awaiting a french fry to be tossed in the air.
Change of Seasons
There is a sense of tranquility when the water is flat reflecting the clouds and the autumn colors....peaceful and heavenly.
Looking over a bluff at Ecola State Park as the waves roll in on the Oregon coast.
s night approaches, the surf reflects the clouds slowly moving across the sky.
A summer night on the ocean where children delight in the wonder of nature....heavenly. This was a tricky shot...combining both low light and the action of children. I saw the children in the distance and I walked towards them hoping to add a nice layer to the landscape scene. The boy was dragging his feet as the parents called them to collect their belongings. I was watching memories being created.

Vines at Sunset
Vines wrapped and twisted over a wire fence as the sun sets.
Snow Geese series 2
I sat for many hours watching the snow geese accumulate in the field. They took their time foraging for food, squawking and digging in the earth. Spontaneously they took flight...a mass of wings and noise as they exploded into motion in front of me. It was worth the wait.
Snow Geese series 3
After the snow geese flew away, I got in my car and followed them to a muddy field. I like the layers of dirt, white geese, trees and sky. A winter's day spent in nature.
Snow Geese series 1
I went looking for snow geese and was not disappointed. I could hear them before I could see them. I watched as they flew towards me as they landed in a field. It wasn't too long before others joined them.
A pond reflects the sky and tree as the lily pads rest on the image above.
The cattail's flat blades and flowering spikes have turned a beautiful shade of gold. It is fun to hike to the distant island when the tide is low. The wet marsh land is littered with driftwood logs from the bay of Puget Sound and many species of birds make this place home
Looking down the Swinomish Channel after sunset, on a beautiful autumn day.
Gem of the Northwest
Washington Pass and Rainy Pass are two mountain passes on State Route 20 in the North Cascades mountains of Washington State. The pass closes in the winter months due to extreme snow fall. The park shelters grizzly bears and gray wolves, plus more than 200 bird species. The Pacific Crest Trail, stretching from Mexico to Canada, passes through the area. It is a wonderful place to explore jagged peaks crowned by more than 300 glaciers.
Stairway to Heaven
The Washington Pass Overlook trail offers beautiful views of Cutthroat Peak, Early Winters Spires, and Liberty Bell Mountain. This section of the trail is built on a huge rock which juts out over the gorge. To stand overlooking the mountain wilderness is magical.
Created by Diablo Dam, the lake is located between Ross Lake and Gorge Lake on the Skagit River at an elevation of 1,201 feet (366 m) above sea level.
Autumn Beach Colors
Autumn colors in Maui.
On this cold December day....remembering my night in Maui and the beautiful sunset.
I think the birds have travel south for the winter...they will be back soon.
Shades of grey and white. A winter's day where I live.
Snowy Hunting Ground
A snow covered farm field is the perfect resting ground for this stately heron as it scans the horizon for prey.
The La Nina season has not disappointed.
As the fog moves away from the trees, the birds gather to welcome the sun.
Outlines in Snow
Old man winter isn't going away quietly. Everything takes on a new appearance with a fresh layer of snow. I love how the back of the garden seat is outlined along with the branches giving this a linear appearance.
A barn sits in a field of blooming canola in the Palouse region of Washington State.
Layers of Colors
As the sun was starting to break through the clouds, the canola field took on a vibrant color. This looks like a painting to me. I love the layers of color.
Oregon's Little Dragon
I have heard about Dooley Mountain in Oregon. It is a famous drive for motorcyclist because of the 188 turns. It is nicknamed Oregon's Little Dragon. What I did not expect to see was the devastation caused by a forest fire last year. The winter's rain is bringing back new growth.
Layers of Color
The Painted Hills were covered in beautiful wild flowers. So many layers of color!
Layers of color, clouds casting shadows and wild flowers in bloom....I was left speechless and awestruck!
Along the Road
Pulling off the side of the road to stretch my legs revealed a beautiful landscape. I love all the layers...thistles, tall grass, old shed, tree, rolling hills and Mount Hood in the distance. I could see forever....simply beautiful.
It was like walking on another planet. The painted hills in Oregon are beautiful. They change appearance with the light and moisture levels. This area preserve a sequence of past climate change.
I am not sure what this deserted building is but as the dark thunder clouds gathered overhead, it looked ominous. I bet this place is spooky at night.
Rolling hills and new growth, make the Palouse agricultural region of Washington state so beautiful in the Spring.
What a great idea for a fence. It is strong, you can see through it and it fits the theme of country living!
A view of the Palouse agricultural region.. It was wonderful to watch the changing colors and shadows as the clouds moved with the wind. This looks like a beautiful painting to me.
A large shadow from a cloud passes over the farm land in the Palouse.
So Far Away
An old homestead. I can imagine a little girl with a bonnet running through the tall grass picking the wildflowers. I wonder what happened to the family that lived here. Old stories left to my imagination.
The rusty metal wheels make an usual fence but adds a nice foreground layer, accenting the green rolling hills and blue sky.
Wagon Train Ruts
Outside of Baker City Oregon, you can hike on the original wagon train ruts on the Oregon Trail that the pioneers used to travel west. As I hiked along the ruts, seeing a storm on the horizon, I realized how strong and resilient these travelers were on their quest for finding a new life. Many died and faced incredible hardships. I could only think about whether I could make it back to the car before the thunderstorm started.
The Palouse agricultural region of Washington state is truly beautiful. The landscape has soft hills of green and mauve, with farms dotting the horizon. The view seems to shift and change with the light as the shade of the clouds move across the farmland. The wind turbines add a interesting layer to the rolling hills. Even in the middle of a sunny afternoon, the colors are rich.
High Desert Sky
At a high altitude, I felt like I could reach up and touch the clouds. The sky was a brilliant blue and the clouds were stunning. It made a beautiful backdrop for an old abandoned farm I found in the middle of nowhere.
Palouse Falls has high volumes of water in the Spring, which drops from a height of 198-feet. The canyon measures 377 feet deep. It is the official waterfall of Washington State. You can hike along the edges of the canyon, which are not fenced off. You have to be very careful and hikers assume all risks. It is not for the faint of heart.
