I walked up slowly to a field of snow geese, trying not to frighten them. I waited as I sat watching the sun break through the clouds. They were squawking amongst themselves as they grazed. They migrate every year and I am very familiar with their habits. I knew it would be a while before they took flight but it is always worth the wait.
Counting down to the New Year, the base of the Space Needle lights up with fireworks as they slowly rise to the top. At the stroke of twelve, the top explodes in color. This architectural structure is an icon to Seattle and the Pacific Northwest. I wonder what the people in the restaurant 600 feet above the ground was experiencing. The explosions and sound were deafening. I am sure the structure was shaking as the fireworks mounted on the base and around the top were ignited.
Plants are magic! They provide beauty and health benefits to all who view them. I love the textures of the clouds and the dry clay soil. The daffodils were lit from within which produced a rich golden tone. Shooting directly into the sun can be challenging. I waited for the sun to be partially hidden behind the cloud. I used a neutral density filter to control the amount of light reaching the sensor, allowing me to adjust to the brightness. A wonderful evening capturing the beauty of nature.
