This was such an amazing experience for me. I was out of my comfort zone looking for an opportunity to photograph an eagle. I do not have a large telephoto lens, so I felt at a disadvantage. I watched many photographers capturing shots that I was unable to get. It was when I walked back to my car that an eagle landed in a tree close to me. I was alone and it looked at me as if to say, "Here's your chance!" I was nervous and excited! It stayed for one shot then flew away. I'll never forget it.
I walked up slowly to a field of snow geese, trying not to frighten them. I waited as I sat watching the sun break through the clouds. They were squawking amongst themselves as they grazed. They migrate every year and I am very familiar with their habits. I knew it would be a while before they took flight but it is always worth the wait.
Counting down to the New Year, the base of the Space Needle lights up with fireworks as they slowly rise to the top. At the stroke of twelve, the top explodes in color. This architectural structure is an icon to Seattle and the Pacific Northwest. I wonder what the people in the restaurant 600 feet above the ground was experiencing. The explosions and sound were deafening. I am sure the structure was shaking as the fireworks mounted on the base and around the top were ignited.
